August was a big month for one of us. Karen, our House Manager, celebrated 30 years working at Octagon. She started as a cook here and over the last 30 years has been an integral part of the team. She brought in cake to celebrate and the residents presented her with a card. Thank you Karen.

We’ve been lucky enough to have two students volunteer here during August. On a Wednesday morning, they join us for a coffee and a chat. The residents have really enjoyed having them here and the students enjoyed listening to the stories of our residents’ childhoods. Very different to their own!

During the Bank Holiday weekend, we brought the cinema to Octagon. We watched Lilo & Stitch while enjoying drinks and ice-cream. We also played bingo and held a scrabble competition.

Next month, some of our residents will be taking part in our annual canal trip. They’re getting very excited as we prepare, so watch this space to find out all about it.
