Whenever we can we like to push the boat out for our residents and ensure they are enjoying all the simple pleasures of life, such as good food, company and fun. And this Easter we certainly did that with an egg-stravaganza of activities which began prior to Easter when local Noak Bridge Primary children visited to make Easter bonnets with our residents.

The Easter weekend itself, kicked off on Good Friday with various little prizes up for grabs in a fun bingo session. Saturday saw our comfortable lounge become a cinema for the afternoon as the residents watched a DVD of a recent Hollywood film together, complete with snacks of popcorn and choc ices.

Easter Sunday saw a change to the usual routine as we served a lazy brunch consisting of a traditional full English – a very popular occasion as you can imagine! This hearty breakfast set the residents up for the day, so after receiving an Easter eggs each, they burnt off some of the calories with a scavenger hunt. A trail of clues were left around the house culminating in all the participants receiving prizes of nice toiletries such as hand creams and body lotions.

The hunt helped them work up fresh appetite for the three course meal we treated them to at 3pm. A choice of melon or prawns to start was followed by roast turkey and all the trimmings, topped off with Easter pudding or strawberry gateaux.

Finally we rounded off the festivities on Monday with a quiz session consisting of questions on TV, famous film quotes and Easter facts. Amongst all that we even managed to raise money for the residents fund by holding a chocolate themed raffle with numerous chocolate related prizes.

Staff and residents all agreed it had been a thoroughly cracking Easter!
