March and April have brought us celebrations which we’ve been able to get involved with.

On 17th March we celebrated St Patrick’s Day with an Irish inspired menu. In the morning the residents could try a green porridge (a lot nicer than it sounds). For lunch we had gammon, potatoes and cabbage, followed by a delicious apple pie and custard.

There was homemade leek and potato soup with soda bread for tea, which went down really well.
In an arts and crafts session, we made four-leaf clover decorations which looked very effective when they were displayed together. Mother’s Day was another chance for us to get crafty, making some brilliant flower decorations.

The residents were also given the chance to work with real flowers during a flower arranging class. One of the resident’s daughters is a florist and she kindly came in share her top tips on flower arranging. We each got to make up our own display and they looked really pretty around the house.

On Good Friday, we made Simnel cakes. On the Sunday we made Easter decorations and enjoyed a delicious roast lamb lunch, with one or two celebratory drinks. For Easter Monday, we organised a raffle, with all the money raised going to the resident’s fund. And we’re looking forward to planning some lovely summer trips and activities now.
