Here at the house, our Easter preparations began early with a very therapeutic craft session. Some of the residents spent an afternoon decorating polystyrene eggs and bunnies, which was a real success. They really enjoyed it and it’s something we’re going to do again (although we’ll need to find something less seasonal to paint).

Beryl won a prize for the best painted egg, and the runners up won a chocolate Lindt bunny. On Maundy Thursday, we held a coffee morning for residents and families. There were beautiful homemade cakes to enjoy and we drew the raffle. Beryl was clearly on a roll because she won a hamper (the top prize).

There were a further seven prizes and we raised £274 for the resident’s fund, which will be used for future trips and activities.

During the Easter weekend the staff cooked a full English breakfast, for those that wanted it. Everyone really enjoyed coming together for the meal because they don’t normally all have breakfast together.

We also played prize bingo, bunny ear hoopla, play your cards right and a guesstimate quiz, which involved residents teaming up and guessing answers to the nearest number. It was huge fun and playing in teams made the game more relaxed.

By Easter Monday, everyone was happy but a little exhausted. The residents watched the Easter parade film and made a start on all that chocolate!
