As work started at Octagon House this month, we’ve been getting out for a bit of peace and quiet when we can.

We went to the Shepherd and Dog pub and enjoyed a lovely lunch there. The staff really looked after us. Sadly, one of our residents was in hospital so wasn’t able to join us. We’re going to the pub for lunch again soon and we hope she’ll be well enough to join us next time.

Another trip was to a local garden centre. The centre has a whole section dedicated to Christmas decorations, and a café where we stopped off for coffee and cake. Despite it being rather busy (and noisy) due to our trip coinciding with half-term, the residents enjoyed themselves.

We used local charity, Basildon Community Transport, to help us with both our trips. Their buses are well equipped for people with mobility issues (Kitty didn’t even have to get out of her wheelchair) and it makes such a difference to go on these trips! A big thank you to them for their support.
