In September, some of our residents went on our annual canal trip, travelling from Harlow to Sawbridgeworth by canal boat. It was a fantastic day and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Our fish and chip lunch was brought to us on the boat and the weather was kind which was the icing on the cake. At 104 years old, Kitty was the boat company’s eldest passenger, so it proves you’re never too old to have fun.

We also took a trip with some of the residents to Beth Chatto Gardens in Colchester, Essex. The gardens were created by award-winning gardener, Beth Chatto, who won 10 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show! It was great to see the last of the summer blooms and we thought that visiting the gardens was a lovely way to spend the day.

With building work at Octagon House due to start soon, we’ll be planning more days out like these to escape the temporary noise.
