While the nation sweltered in the July heatwave it hasn’t slowed down our Timberlog residents. We’ve had an action packed month featuring our usual church service and chair yoga plus a visit from one of our favourite bands S.T.A.G, who as always, thoroughly entertained us with a variety of rock and roll songs.

Thanks to fund raising activities like last month’s garden party, we were able to take the residents out to the Shepherd and Dog pub in Billericay, where we sat in the conservatory and enjoyed the delicious food and great company.

We take pleasure in fostering close links with our local community across the generations, and this month has seen visits from our friends at the nearby youth centre. The teenagers popped round for a fun game of bingo and then returned the following day to participate in baking with the residents. One of the boys enjoyed spending time with us so much, he came back again on his own for another six hour visit!

Then when England were playing Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals the youth club invited our residents back to their clubhouse to watch the game – and commiserated with them over the result!
