One of the many things that makes an Abbeyfield home special, is the input we get from community volunteers. Here at Timberlog, one of our wonderful volunteers who visits every Tuesday, has been stretching our brains with fun, word challenge games.

For the last few weeks over coffee, we have played some very competitive games of Scrabble. However, the game that has recently caused much hilarity, suggestive answers and good-natured debate, is called Scattergories.

We split into four teams and after rolling dice to randomly select a letter, a category is also chosen. Players must then rack their brains for 12 items that fit the category. Can you think of articles of clothing, things you fold, or things at the beach that start with S for example? You only score points if you come up with things that no one else does. The more creative your answers, the more points you score!

It has rapidly become a firm favourite with all of us and we expect more hours of fun in the weeks ahead, testing our vocabulary and trying not to spit our coffee out at some of the suggestions!
