This month saw our staff completing some all-important First Aid training. This is part of our ongoing investment in their professional development as well as our commitment to the welfare of our residents. The First Aid refresher course was mandatory for all Abbeyfield’s employees and ensures that we are able to provide the best care possible, in the event of a medical emergency.
Participants were brought up to speed on the latest recommended advice on how to administer CPR, and covered other practical first aid techniques such as bandaging, burns and scalds and the management of medical priorities.
In addition, we reviewed the critical early warning signs of heart attacks and strokes, as spotting these early and taking appropriate action can potentially help to minimise long term or serious consequences. After an informative and educational day, all staff had a renewed focus and confidence in their existing first aid techniques, ensuring Abbeyfield residents remain in good hands.
