Every year we take part in Abbeyfield Week, which marks the creation of our charitable organisation, but this year we had two extra reasons to celebrate. It was Abbeyfield’s 60th birthday and the Queen was celebrating her 90th – so what better excuse than these milestones, for a celebratory red, white and blue themed Garden Party?

Held at the Octagon, over 50 residents, staff and their families all came together for a delightful afternoon of socialising. The weather stayed dry and everyone enjoyed a delicious strawberry cream tea, while being entertained by a fantastic live singer. Various games including a tombola and a raffle, took place to raise money for the residents’ fund, with all proceeds being invested into future days out.

Octagon Manager Karen, said:

‘It was wonderful to see everyone having such a good time and a fitting tribute to the work that Abbeyfield does in ensuring that older people have the companionship and support they need to enjoy later life.’
